Hello there...

So I'm going to give this blog thing a try, mostly to catalog the adventures of Alex and James in something a bit longer than a Facebook status.

In case you don't know the particulars, Alexandra (3/7/08) is about three and a half and James (4/4/10) is 18 months. I am their full-time Mom and work part-time for the American Kennel Club. Todd is my husband and an outstanding father to the kids. (Can I just add here that I TOTALLY do not get Dads who don't do anything. Met a lady with 5 kids last week in the church nursery who said her husband won't take the kids anywhere alone until they are potty trained - seriously???? I have yet to find anything that makes men biologically incapable of wiping up poop. As you have likely surmised, Todd is perfectly willing & able to change diapers, and do a myriad of other activities with the kids - probably a good thing for our marriage.)

So with that impressive introduction, I'll share out day today, which is pretty typical.

At Alex's preschool today they were having the firetruck come for a visit. She asks me, "Are they going to show the video again this year?" Yes, my three year has a steel trap of a memory and can relate to me things that happened over a year ago. Not thinking this is going to bode well in the long-run for me. It just means she will have very clear memories to relate to her future therapist.

So after reading all the papers she got from the firemen, she notices that she has 2 of the same page and is missing the one that says "Stop, Drop and Roll." Since she is practically OCD she asked me about this about 5x before I finally Googled it and found a coloring sheet to print out.

James and I headed off to the pediatrician for his 18 month check-up. Vitals are such that he is in the 78th percentile for height and 12th percentile for weight. Apparently Todd & I have managed to produce a tall, skinny child. It will be a miracle if this lasts into childhood, much less adulthood. Anyway, they now do an autism assessment at this age, which is good although I have no concerns about my sanguine James in this area. He loves nothing more than being the center of attention and making people laugh. His only repetitive movements are continued attempts to scale the furniture.

Tomorrow Alex & I are headed off to experience the NC State Fair....
